Henna: how to carry out the skin sensitivity test to detect possible allergies

In a previous article we talked about the test test and how important it is before making certain applications on our hair.

But before that, there's one more step to take into account:

The skin sensitivity test to detect possible allergies.

It must be said that when it comes to a 100% natural product, we assume that it is harmless and cannot harm our health. Big mistake.

Henna: how to carry out the allergy skin sensitivity test

This is not saying that natural products are harmful, but remember that you can be allergic to anything , even natural.

For this reason - although cases of allergy due to henna are very rare - I recommend that you carry out this skin sensitivity test , even if you are not allergic.

Why is this test so important and I want you to do it? Simple, because it helps you look for an allergic reaction , thus safeguarding your health.

How to do the skin test to find out if you are allergic to henna?

  • Add water to the dyeing, washing or healing herb to create the batter;
  • Apply a small amount of the batter to your forearm and cover with a band-aid.
  • Wait 2/3 hours and if you don't notice strange reactions, such as itching or redness, you can rinse.
  • Wait at least 24 hours for the evaluation.
  • If you don't notice any reaction, you can apply it all over your head. ONLY after having done the TEST TEST
  • If, on the other hand, during the exposure time you feel itching and/or tingling - or when you rinse the mixture from your skin, you notice that it is red and that your nose starts to run and your eyes also itch, it is very likely that you are allergic to that specific dyeing herb.
  • In this case, I advise against applying herbal dyes.

An allergy to a substance occurs after being exposed to the allergen for a certain period, regardless of the amount of product and can manifest itself in any area of the body.

Typically , an allergic reaction is obtained from the first exposure , but it can also occur after several applications or years of use of a product.

Keep in mind that it is possible to be allergic to only one specific allergen , contained in a dry herb , even if you use other herbs without any problems.

If you test using a ready-to-use herbal hair dye mix and have an allergic reaction , it will unfortunately be impossible to figure out which herbal hair dye caused the reaction.

That said, know that the itching and burning sensation will disappear within a couple of hours, as soon as you rinse the herbal dyes from the skin.

The fact that the skin remains colored is not an allergic symptom , but a normal reaction due to the dye pigment.

Finally, I wanted to focus on an important part:

henna herbal dyes favism allergy

If you suffer from G6PD deficiency, therefore you are affected by favism you CANNOT use lawsonia inermis and any other dyeing or healing plant of the fabaceae family, which can cause haemolytic crises in fabic subjects.

I hope you have always done the skin sensitivity test before starting to use the dyeing, healing and washing powders.

And if you have yet to approach this world, now you know it's an essential step to safeguard your health
